BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WV News) — Erskine Construction and Sealcoat is preparing to build West Virginia’s first sealcoat materials plant, a move that could improve the quality of the state’s asphalt maintenance industry by offering fresher product via reduced shipping times.

Owner Colton Erskine said the company will begin construction of the plant in the next five weeks. The plant is slated to be built next to the company’s new headquarters on Meadowbrook Road and is planned to open on March 1, 2026.

The total project is expected to cost around $1 million. And while the initial staffing footprint will be small—just three employees to operate the plant—it marks a significant industrial investment in a market long dependent on out-of-state supply chains.
