The Food and Drug Administration has issued another recall of frozen shrimp sold by retailers in nine states which could be contaminated by radioactivity.

The recall comes only days after another recall of raw frozen shrimp sold in 13 states.

This new recall affects frozen shrimp from Southwind Foods of Carson, Calif.

The bagged, frozen shrimp product was distributed between July 17 and Aug. 8 to retailers, distributors, and wholesalers in Alabama, Arizona, California, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Utah, Virginia, and Washington state.

The recall is due to possible contamination of Cesium-137. Long term low dose exposure can bring an elevated risk of cancer.

No illnesses have been reported to date.
