While Hurricane Erin continues to spin in the open Atlantic, the storm will soon be getting some company.
The National Hurricane Center says there’s a high probability that a tropical disturbance in the central Atlantic will become organized in the coming days and will turn into a named storm.
“Environmental conditions appear to be conducive for further development of this system, and a tropical storm is very likely to form this weekend while it moves northwestward, then northward over the southwestern Atlantic,” the agency said Friday afternoon.
The hurricane center advised residents and visitors in Bermuda to closely monitor the latest forecasts, saying tropical storm watches or warnings may be posted there this weekend.
