LAKE BILLY CHINOOK, Ore. (KPTV) - Oregon Governor Tina Kotek invoked the Emergency Conflagration Act for the Flat Fire on Friday after the flames spread rapidly on Thursday evening, according to the Oregon State Fire Marshal.

The Flat Fire began Thursday at 4:29 p.m. and grew to about 3,300 acres by Friday morning.

Officials say firefighters worked overnight to protect structures and build a fire line.

As of 2 p.m. Friday, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has issued Level 3: ‘Go Now evacuation orders :

The area south of SW Graham Road between SW Loop Road and SW South Road.

For Lake Billy Chinook Public Lands 3, the southern half down to the Deschutes County border has been moved up to a Level 3 evacuation level.
