SALEM Ore. (KPTV) - Temperatures in Salem reached 100 degrees Friday as the Oregon State Fair opened its gates to crowds from across the state.
Between rides and games, the fair offers multiple misting stations, water refill areas, and plenty of shaded spots for people to cool off.
“Any time you have a summer event, you have to be prepared for it to be hot, so a lot of things weren’t necessarily in response to the heat wave. It was just something we would’ve had as a resource anyway,” said Alex Hasenstab, Oregon State Fair spokesperson.
In July, Salem Fire became the city’s ambulance provider, which led to a new partnership with the State Fair as its medical support team.
