It’s always heartwarming when a shelter pup finally gets adopted into a family, but it’s difficult when one is left behind waiting for someone to notice them.

Many dogs in shelters face this problem, and it becomes even harder when their companions leave one after another, making the lonely ones feel even more isolated.

Meeting Chauncey

Chauncey’s story began at the Spartanburg Humane Society in South Carolina. She was gentle, playful, and very timid , which made it hard for her to adjust in the busy shelter environment.

She spent her days watching the other dogs go home with their new families. Through a small hole in the door, she would see them walk away while she stayed behind.

The staff couldn’t understand why Chauncey was overlooked time and time again.
