A pet-sitting platform's recent study broke down, state by state, the most popular dog of 2025.

TrustedHousesitters gathered data from over 100,000 pets registered to the platform to find out the most popular names among cats and dogs in 2025. For both, Luna reigned supreme.

The top five most popular dog names this year included Luna, Bella, Lucy, Charlie and Daisy. But a map revealing the most popular dog names in each state showed some places are not following the popularity trend.

Only 12 states had Luna as the top dog name in 2025, in comparison to 21 states listing that name as the most popular for cats. Luna also jumped up from being the top dog name in only five states in 2023 .
