Who's the top TV stand-up comedian? As Harry Hill famously said: "There's only one way to decide it - FIGHT!" But since that's not an option, TV critic Gary Bushell has named his top 10 comedians of all time.

Bushell, a journalist and critic for four decades for various national publishers, describes his list in The Express as a "considered top ten of stand-up comedians who also make or made TV shows". He clarifies that the list is "confined to solo turns (so no Morecambe and Wise) and doesn't include comedy magicians like the immortal Tommy Cooper or the squeakier Joe Pasquale".

He encourages readers to "feel free to disagree at the end". Which, judging by some of the names on this list, is probably likely.
