A woman who has lost four stone in just six months thanks to weight loss jabs has warned that the new drug price hike could push hundreds of people into accessing them on the black market.

Vivienne Joy, 52, runs an online community of more than 250 Mounjaro users and is worried the increase in cost might push more people turn to less reputable sources to acquire the jabs.

Her comments come the week after Eli Lilly, who manufactures Mounjaro, announced that the list price would jump by 170 per cent . For a month’s supply of the highest dose, retailers will now have to pay £330 rather than £120 — this means consumers could have to shell out thousands more over the course of their treatment.
