A 57-year-old man in California is accused of kidnapping an 11-year-old girl who was out looking for her lost dog, allegedly coaxing the child into his van by posing as an animal control officer. Guillermo Cascante was taken into custody earlier this week and charged with kidnapping and lewd and lascivious acts on a child through force or fear, authorities announced.

According to a news release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office, deputies with the Highland Station at about 8:49 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 19 responded to an emergency call regarding a kidnapping in the area of San Francisco Street and 14th Street in Highland, California, about 65 miles east of Los Angeles.
