Dozens of campaigners from the Stand Up To Racism group have gathered outside a hotel in Long Eaton to show solidarity to asylum seekers. They have organised the movement after reports of a small number of men having allegedly been abusive to migrants the previous two Saturdays.
Now, members of the group are meeting near the hotel on Saturday (August 23) to show solidarity with the asylum seekers. "We believe Long Eaton residents do not want these people outside this hotel trying to stir up trouble," a spokesperson for the group said.
This comes after separate protests outside a hotel in Epping, Essex, led the local council to take out an injunction with the High Court to prohibit the hotel from housing asylum seekers, which has now sparked national low-level unrest within the far-right
