Residents of Caledon are under a shelter-in-place order as police respond to an incident involving potentially armed individuals. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) issued the warning via social media at approximately 9:10 a.m. on Saturday.

Authorities have closed off Highway 9 between Gore Road, Patterson Side Road, Finnerty Street, and Humber Station Road. Earlier, at 7:30 a.m., police had alerted the community about a significant police presence in the area due to an ongoing investigation.

In their directive, officers urged anyone outside to seek shelter immediately. They advised residents to secure their safety inside a building or another safe location. "If you are outside, seek shelter immediately. Secure your safety inside a building or another safe location," the police stated.

For those already indoors, police recommended closing curtains and avoiding actions that might draw attention. They emphasized the importance of complying with any instructions from law enforcement as they work to apprehend the individuals involved.
