McGREGOR, Texas (KWTX) - Authorities overnight arrested Bonanza Aviles, 32, of Eddy, the suspect in a standoff in McGregor a month ago, according to McGregor Police Chief James Burson.

Aviles is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, and burglary of a habitation, according to online jail records.

He was arrested by US Marshals and booked into the Bell County Jail. Details regarding his arrest are not yet available.

Burson confirmed to KWTX that Aviles is the man blamed for the hours-long standoff on July 24.

It began when police attempted to serve a felony evidentiary warrant in the 600 block of Madison near the intersection with 6th Street.
