ROSEVILLE, Calif. —

Antelope High School made district history on Friday night as its varsity football team kicked off the season with two female kickers on the roster.

Junior Olivia Richardson and senior Miley Phillips both said the team feels like a family to them.

"It's just a great place to be," Richardson said.

Richardson joined the team last year after her brother, a former kicker at Antelope High School, convinced her to give it a shot.

"Everyone's kind to me. Everyone's very nice, you know. I love my brothers and, you know, they love their sisters,” she said.

Miley Phillips made the decision to join the team this season.
