PORT NECHES, Texas — A 21-year-old man shot his father in the abdomen then shot himself in the face during a domestic incident that triggered a SWAT standoff Friday night in Port Neches.

Officers responded to the shooting around 10:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of Llano St. after dispatch reported information that the man had shot his father.

The wounded father was able to exit the house and received immediate medical attention before being transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition. He was later identified as 52-year-old Carlos Andres Rendon, Sr.

The son, 21-year-old Carlos Andres Rendon Jr., remained inside the house following the initial shooting, refusing to respond to officers' commands.
