MARCY, N.Y. — A corrections officer living in Western New York has been sentenced following an investigation into the beating of an inmate at Mid-State Correctional Facility.
Acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of New York John Sarcone III announced Thursday that former CO Brandon Montanari, 34, of East Concord, NY, was sentenced to 37 months in prison and 2 years of supervised release for depriving an inmate of his rights under color of law.
"I recognize how difficult it is to work as a corrections officer in New York State, but nobody is above the law," Sarcone said in a prepared statement. "It is unacceptable for a corrections officer to assault an inmate."
