LUFKIN, Texas — One person is dead following a deadly altercation in Lufkin.

Lufkin Police said the incident took place in the 900 block of Glenn Street on Saturday. At around 2:30 a.m., officers were told one person involved in an altercation was taken by personal vehicle to a local hospital while another had left the scene.

Officers arrived to the hospital, where a man was being treated for stab wounds. He died from his injuries at 3:15 a.m.

The other person involved was located at a nearby home and questioned by officers and investigators.

No arrests have been made and an investigation is ongoing, but police do not believe there is any threat to the community. The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Rangers are assisting in the investigation.
