CHARLES TOWN - Skippylongstocking's bid for a three-peat in the Charles Town Classic came to an end on Friday night, as Banishing took the lead on the backstretch and held on late surge by Willy D's to win the Grade-2, $1 million race at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races.

Early on, it was Skippylongstocking in the lead as the field moved passed the grandstand for the first time and through the second turn. Komorebino Omoide (Jpn) took the lead on the backstretch from Skippylongstocking, who began to fade, but it didn't last long as Banishing, with Tyler Gaffalione on board, made his move on the outside from back in sixth place, passing Komorebino Omoide (Jpn) and taking the lead as the field made its way through the final turn.
