The Chilliwack Fire Department says it was called to an apartment building Friday evening after reports of smoke in a ground-floor unit.
Firefighters headed to the scene on Mary Street near Brett Avenue just after 7 p.m.
“Crews quickly initiated an offensive interior attack, containing the fire to its area of origin,” the fire department said.
“A primary search confirmed all occupants had safely evacuated.”
A total of 17 firefighters from two separate fire halls fought the blaze.
No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire has been deemed accidental.
The Chilliwack Fire Department reminds all residents to make sure they have working smoke alarms.
