DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Dayton and Montgomery County’s Public Health held a brunch for the 14th annual Black Breastfeeding Week on Saturday.
Black Breastfeeding Week exists to bring awareness to the statistically lower breastfeeding rates in the African American community. There are many benefits to breastfeeding, including infant health and a lower hospitalization rate. Breastfeeding or not is a personal choice that many mothers face.
The brunch aimed to support Black mothers in having adequate education, resources and the community to contribute to breastfeeding success.
