BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. — A South Carolina town has been named among the 31 most beautiful in America by a well-known travel magazine.
Condé Nast Traveler stepped back from ranking big city destinations in July to look at smaller locales that boast "idyllic" style, charm and walkability, among other things. And while a perennial favorite got a nod in the introduction, the writer decided to heap praise on Charleston's smaller neighbor.
The article said it didn't want to steer people away from iconic cities like New York and South Carolina's "Holy City," but did want travelers to experience towns like the Lowcountry's Beaufort.
