A person spotted driving a stolen car was arrested Saturday morning in West Dundee after striking a tree and then trying to run away, police announced.
The vehicle had been reported stolen in Carpentersville. It was spotted about 10:15 a.m. entering West Dundee on the Main Street Bridge, police said in a Facebook post.
The driver lost control of the auto and struck a tree at Seventh and Geneva streets, police said.
The driver tried to escape but was quickly taken into custody, police said.
No one was hurt.
Charges were pending Saturday afternoon.
