BROOK PARK, Ohio -- Brook Park leaders have signed off on a rezoning plan that could reshape the city’s landscape, approving the Cleveland Browns’ proposal for a domed stadium and billion-dollar development at the former Ford site.

City Council voted 6-1 Aug. 21 to rezone 176 acres along Snow Road from industrial use to a Planned Unit Development District.

The change allows for construction of a $2.4 billion stadium and up to $1 billion in private investment in retail, restaurants, housing, hotels and office space.

Ward 1 Councilman Tom Troyer cast the lone vote against the measure.

The ordinance had advanced to third reading Aug. 19 ahead of the public hearing and special council meeting on Aug. 21.
