ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A metro Atlanta man accused of killing his wife and dismembering her body 26 years ago was found not guilty Friday.
Christopher Wolfenbarger was facing murder charges in connection with the death of his wife, 21-year-old Melissa Wolfenbarger.
A Fulton County jury acquitted him late Friday afternoon.
Melissa’s dismembered remains were found in black trash bags tossed on the side of the road in 1999, although they wouldn’t be identified as hers until 2003.
Christopher was arrested in September 2024. Police said he was taken into custody at his home in Griffin while hiding behind a dryer.
