Santa Cruz native Juli Inkster, 65, made another move in the third round of the U.S. Senior Women’s Open Championship on Saturday.
Inkster, a Harbor High and San Jose State University alumna who nearly made the cut on the LPGA Tour last week, has improved her standing in back-to-back rounds and enters Sunday’s final round in a three-way tie for sixth place.
The World Golf and LPGA Hall of Famer shot 1-under-par 72 in the third round at San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista and has a 1-over 220 total overall.
“I didn’t drive the ball particularly well, but I managed my game out there,” said Inkster, in a post-round press conference. “I hit a lot of good iron shots, had a lot of good looks. Greens are extremely tough. You’ve just got to kind of make sure you put the ball on the right side
