Ottawa Fire Services took multiple 911 calls at 6:52 p.m., with callers reporting that smoke and flames were visible in the basement of the unit. Article content Article content

Upon arrival at the scene, in the 900 block of Borthwick, crews confirmed there was smoke in the basement and a “fast attack” was started, with a hose line advanced into the building. Firefighters were able to contain the fire before it spread.

The fire was declared under control by 7:08 p.m.
