The California Highway Patrol has issued a Silver Alert to help the Torrance Police Department locate a 79-year-old man who went missing Saturday.

Juan Rivas was last seen about 11 a.m. Saturday at Western Avenue and West 238th Street, according to the CHP.

Rivas is Hispanic, 5 feet, 4 inches tall, 210 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, last seen wearing a green-and-blue flannel shirt, black pants and black shoes.

Anyone who sees Rivas or has information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911.

A Silver Alert is activated when an elderly or developmentally or cognitively impaired person goes missing and is determined to be at-risk to provide immediate information to the public and aid in their swift recovery.
