STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Milder temperatures on Saturday provided a perfect opportunity for children and adults to enjoy a summer afternoon of food and fun at the annual Family Day at the Mariner’s Harbor Houses.

While some children enjoyed playing in a bouncy house, others took advantage of an inflatable water slide.

Over by the basketball courts, Elijah Julius, 13, and friends were seen preforming stunts on their bicycles.

Troy Gaves was busy cooking hot dogs and hamburgers on two grills, while Kiko Charles, president of the tenants association, boiled corn on the cob.

“This is something that happens once a year. The New York City Housing Authority sponsors it, and all the residents can come out together, and we try to do what we can in terms of food, bounce house and entertainment,” Ch
