Parents of Philadelphia students are bracing for the impact of SEPTA ’s planned service cuts set to take effect the day before the school district returns to school.

On August 24, SEPTA’s planned reductions will include 32 bus routes being eliminated and 16 shortened routes. The cuts come as lawmakers in Harrisburg fail to agree on funding to address the transit agency’s $213 million dollar budget deficit.

With service disruptions looming, parents of Philadelphia School District students are looking at other options to get their children to class. According to the school district, more than 50,000 students rely on SEPTA.
