Starting QB surprise

While Southern continuously said how competitive the quarterback battle was in the preseason, almost everyone assumed Terrence Graves would go with the returner Jalen Woods, a redshirt sophomore, as the starter. He instead allowed junior Cam’Ron McCoy to run the show. The Jackson State transfer was stunning with his legs as his first carry was a 69-yard rush to the end zone. Southern appeared to have chosen dynamism over steadiness, and it doesn’t seem like the wrong decision.
