DAYTONA BEACH — Fan favorite Ryan Blaney won the Coke Zero Sugar 400 to end the season for the next three finishers by a car length and position the 31-year-old for another run at a season title.

A late-charge allowed Blaney to pass a dozen drivers during the final two laps, taking him from the 13th spot to Victory Lane for the second time during the summer race at Daytona International Speedway.

“We kind of took what was given us,” Blaney said moments after his 15th career Cup Series win. “We like to lead laps. We were able to get there at the end.”

Blaney has experienced his share of heartbreak at the storied track, none worse than a second-place finished during the 2020 Daytona 500 to Denny Hamlin amid Ryan Newman’s fiery crash need the finish line.
