HOUSTON – At NRG Stadium, the vibrant culture and deep-rooted traditions of Historically Black College and University (HBCU) marching bands took center stage during the 2025 Pepsi National Battle of the Bands Saturday evening.
The event celebrates the rich heritage of HBCU band culture—an integral part of Black art and music.
HONORING A LEGACY OF MUSIC AND COMMUNITY
Eight distinguished bands performed in front of hundreds of attendees, continuing a decades-long tradition of inspiring pride and unity through musical excellence and performance art. Among this year’s participants was the Jackson State University band, led by Band Director Roderick Little.
