SALISBURY — Congratulations were extended and a celebration was held during a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Wallace Cancer Institute.

The Aug. 8 event, which marked the institute’s five-year anniversary, was held in conjunction with National Cancer Survivor Day, and therefore a cancer survivor, Chelsea McVay, was selected to cut the ribbon.

Elaine Spalding, president of the Rowan Chamber of Commerce, gave a good afternoon ladies and gentlemen shout out, which began the ceremony.
