Dear Carolyn: Our daughter is 15 and has been dating for the past year, but no boy in particular for very long. Her dad and I are very open about sex, she knows all about it, especially her birth control options and that she can ask either of us at any time for them or even Plan B if she needs it. Her dad and I both had sex as older teenagers and also had lots of partners before we met, especially him. No judgment, please, he was a minor league hockey player for a while. We can hardly recommend celibacy to our daughter with a straight face.
Carolyn Hax: Is sex positivity a ‘lax attitude’ for raising a teenage girl?
