LAS VEGAS —

A Las Vegas mother is demanding justice after her son, Hayden Alter, was found killed, his body then burned.

On May 16, Alter was allowed time off from a rehabilitation center in Albuquerque to visit family in Las Vegas. A few days later, Alter was reported missing by his mom, Deanna Romero, on May 21.

"I'm so mad at myself because I hung up on him. I was upset with him because he was with an acquaintance we didn't want him with. We didn't want him around anybody. We were just trying to keep him sober," said Romero. "He wanted to make more of his life. He wanted even in just this short sobriety journey; he already wanted to help other people."

On June 10, New Mexico State Police found his car, his remains burned inside.
