Friends and family gathered Saturday night in Rehoboth, Massachusetts, to remember the pregnant teenager who was allegedly killed by her boyfriend.

There was a candle celebration and balloon release at the vigil to honor Kylee Monteiro and her unborn child.

“Kylee Monteiro’s time with us was brief. But her impact will echo for a lifetime,” one speaker told the crowd, who remembered Monteiro as kind, sweet and caring.

Monteiro was 11 weeks pregnant when she was reported missing on Aug. 7 . Officials allege that she was killed by Gregory Groom, a 22-year-old she'd been dating. Groom, who called police to report his girlfriend's disappearance the following day, was arrested last Tuesday after investigators search
