The body of a 35-year-old man was recovered from a Guthrie County Lake about 3 1/2 hours after he was seen struggling while swimming, then failed to resurface, the Stuart Fire Department says,

The department said in a news release that searchers found the man's body in Diamond Head Lake, between Stuart and Redfield, shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23. His name was not released and the fire department said the death remains under investigation.

The release said witnesses told authorities the man was swimming beyond a roped-off swimming area when he began to struggle, then went under. They called the 911 emergency number and the fire department was alerted about 4:40 p.m.
