A second-half surge in a 32-15 win over the visiting Saskatchewan Roughriders on Saturday kept the Calgary Stampeders in the hunt for first place in the CFL’s West Division.

Trailing by a point at halftime, an 18-point burst aided by Calgary’s defence that shut down Saskatchewan in the third and fourth quarters had the Stampeders’ locker room buzzing after the game played in front of an announced 28,295 at McMahon Stadium.

“It means a lot, but we didn’t win a Grey Cup today,” Stampeders quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. cautioned.

“I’m sure we’re going to have to see them in the playoffs or Winnipeg or one of these other good teams.”
