A fast-moving wildfire threatens the idyllic Napa Valley, with potential to harm people, structures, and the wineries the region is synonymous with.

On Aug. 21, shortly before 3 p.m., the Pickett Fire erupted in the 2300 block of Pickett Road in Calistoga , according to Cal Fire.

The fire, now at over 2,100 acres as of 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, has forced evacuations and warnings of the sparsely populated hills above Larkmead, Woodleaf, and Calistoga.

No damage to structures or injuries have been reported in the less than 24 hours since the fire sprouted up, but the blaze has affected agricultural fields in the area, some belonging to the many winer
