Bob Carnagey started thinking about participating in the Honor Flight program about eight years ago after hearing a presentation at a veterans' event. The day trip to Washington D.C. would offer the Hobart resident and his friend a chance to visit the iconic Vietnam Veterans Memorial to reminisce on their shared service and pay tribute to their fallen comrades.
As for many veterans, however, the emotional toll of the trip felt like too much for Carnagey's friend to endure, so he backed out. But Carnagey decided to forge ahead, signing up for the opportunity to revisit his days as a chaplain’s assistant during the Tet Offensive.
And after a wait of about 2 1/2 years, he finally took his Honor Flight with his wife, Terri, and a group of fellow veterans on
