Menendez was denied parole for three years after an 11-hour hearing in California that focused on his use of contraband cellphones during his time in prison and on acts of dishonesty after the murders, such as asking witnesses to lie for him, according to the Los Angeles Times, the only outlet allowed to witness the proceeding. He was also questioned by the parole board about the murders and the brothers' claim that they were repeatedly abused in the home, the L.A. Times reported.
