DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- A groundbreaking ceremony was held last week in Durham for a new mix-use development at the former site of Durham Coca-Cola Bottling Company warehouse.

The project, named Westside Bottling in honor of its history, will feature shops, restaurants, apartments and townhouses. This includes Sprouts Farmers Market, Shake Shack, Ulta Beauty, Club Pilates, First Watch and Vernis Nail Salon.

Durham Mayor Leo Williams made remarks at the ceremony, saying the project had the potential to be controversial, but the developers made a good case for why it'll improve the community.
