Three police officers have been injured after an unknown liquid was thrown on them in Leicester city centre . Police believe members of the public may have been hit during the incident too.
Leicestershire Police said the incident occurred in King Street, in Leicester city centre , at around 4.50am this morning (Sunday, August 24). The force said three on-duty officers were responding to reports of an affray in the area when the liquid was thrown.
The liquid, which has yet to be identified, "significantly irritated" the skin and eyes of the officers involved. Police said that the substance may have hit some members of the public who were in the area at the time as well.
At present, medical professionals do not believe there will be any lasting effects on the officers from the liquid
