PORTLAND, Ore. — A teenager was arrested by Portland Police officers from Central Precinct responding to reports of the 15-year-old in a mental health crisis, causing significant damage to his family’s home with a hammer in a house in the 1700 block of Northwest Potters Court.

The teenager then lit his family home on fire on Friday after police responded.

When law enforcement officers arrived on the scene, they found that the family had evacuated and they were physically unhurt, but requested additional resources to try de-escalation techniques as no one was in immediate danger.
