FLINT, MI -- Flint officials want to hire two engineering companies to draw up plans for replacing two of the city’s most deteriorated bridges , including one that serves as a primary route to Hurley Medical Center.

Members of the City Council gave initial committee approval to contracts with Rowe Professional Services and Wade Trim during committee meetings on Aug. 20, the next step in replacing the bridges on Grand Traverse Street and Western Road.

Both contracts still require approval in a regular council meeting. Construction isn’t expected until at least 2027.
