(NewsNation) — With flu season coming up soon, you may have a lot of questions, like when the best time to get a flu shot is and if insurance covers it.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat and sometimes the lungs. It can cause mild to severe illness and in extreme cases, lead to death.
