SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - The start of deer hunting season in Iowa is just around the corner. During the season, hunters can expect to see a new deer tag option for disabled veterans.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (Iowa DNR) says the new tag was signed into law during the last legislative session.

Am I eligible for the new deer tag?

The DNR states that to become eligible for the new deer tag, disabled veterans must meet the following requirements.

If hunters do meet the listed qualifications, they can expect to be asked to pay the deer tag fee, which is $33. Hunters will be given their own deer tag, which is valid for any established firearm season.

Hunters are expected to follow the method of take for the season hunted, according to the DNR.
