Two years after three lives were tragically taken in shooting at a Dollar General on Kings Road, the city of Jacksonville and other community organizations are honoring those victims and survivors on Sunday.

On August 26, 2023, Angela Carr, A.J. Laguerre Jr. and Jerald Gallion were shot and killed in the racially-motivated shooting that the Federal Bureau of Investigation declated a hate crime.

It was a shooting that left a stain of emotion and heartbreak throughout the Jacksonville community.

The ceremony will be held at Kings Road Memorial Park at 2245 11th Street West. Just in case it rains, the ceremony will be moved to Mt. Calvary Church on 2360 Kings Rd.

Mayor Donna Deegan, Councilwoman Ju’Coby Pittman, and Sheriff T.K. Waters along with other organizations will be in attendance.
