Some New York beaches have begun to reopen after closures due to rough surf conditions caused by Hurricane Erin .
On Sunday, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that swimming would resume at all Long Island State Park ocean beaches now that the rough conditions have begun to die down.
However, a release from the Governor’s office does warn that some beachgoers might still run into swimming restrictions at some beaches based on local conditions.
“As Long Island State Park beaches reopen for swimming, the safety of every New Yorker and visitor remains our top priority. We urge everyone to exercise caution, follow all posted advisories and respect the guidance of lifeguards and park personnel,” said Hochul.
