Two Bow Valley mayors and the mayors of Cochrane and Calgary sent a letter to Prime Minister Mark Carney requesting Bill C-5 fast-track a project of "national interest”, for a passenger train service from Calgary to Banff.

I do not think that any of them had a mandate from their constituents to submit such a request. The original proponent of the project, Liricon, was not included, nor were the Stoney Nakoda people or Banff National Park, whose lands the rail project would pass through. There was no mention of the fence needed to protect the cows, horses and wildlife.

If Canadian Pacific Kansas City railway company thought there would be a profit in passenger traffic between Calgary and Banff, they would already be doing it, especially since they already have the rail line in pl
